'Careers that kids are seeing': Scheels in Springfield hosts Touch-A-Truck event

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Families in Springfield got to enjoy a day of fun at Scheels' Touch-A-Truck event on Tuesday.

The event was part of the retailer's back-to-school celebration and included ambulances, police cars and fire trucks.

It's the first time Scheels has hosted an event like this.

Scheels Marketing Assistant Hannah Baxter said it showed kids career options that they can look forward to in the future.

"I mean, these are careers that kids are seeing, so it would be cool to be like, 'Oh my gosh, I wanna be a police officer when I grow up, I wanna be a firefighter when I grow up.' Honestly, I think it gives them career ideas before they even grow up," Baxter said.

There was also a dunk tank and Plinko for families to play.
