URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A local chaplain who served multiple agencies in the Champaign-Urbana community for years has died.
The Urbana Fire Department announced Chaplain David Ashby died Sunday. He served the Champaign and Urbana police and fire departments.
"Chaplain Ashby served the CU community for many years, offering guidance, compassion, and unwavering support to our first responders and our community," said the Urbana Fire Department in a Facebook post. "His dedication touched countless lives, and his presence brought comfort during some of our most difficult moments."
