DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The launch date for the Decatur Moves microtransit service has been delayed.

The service was originally set to launch on August 11. The City of Decatur said it will now move forward with a unified launch of the service in both rural and urban service zones. The original plan was to separate the rollout.

"By launching the urban and rural zones, this timing adjustment allows us to better serve the region as a whole, and that's a step worth taking with such an exciting project for our residents," said City of Decatur Director of Economic & Community Development Lacie Elzy.

The city recently ran a dry run of the service on Wednesday. They said it was successful and "provided a valuable opportunity to demonstrate vehicle readiness, driver preparedness and technology integration."

A new launch date for the program will be announced soon.
