DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Fire Department had to cut away sections of a roof after an abandoned house caught fire Friday morning.

The department responded to the fire at 1545 East Prairie Avenue just after 7:30 a.m.

Crews initially entered the building, but DFD said they were eventually ordered to evacuate and shift to a defensive strategy.

Firefighters cut away sections of the roof to put out the fire, and the department said it was under control at 10:06 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
