SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois State Police (ISP) honored Trooper Corey Thompsen and Trooper Clay Carns by unveiling their names at the ISP Memorial Park in Springfield.

Trooper Thompsen, who was 28 years old, died in a motorcycle accident on October 18, 2024, after a collision while on a traffic detail. He served nearly five years with ISP and is survived by his wife, Chelsea, and family.

Trooper Carns, aged 35, died on December 23, 2024, after being struck by a vehicle while clearing debris on I-55; he served 11 years with ISP and is survived by his wife, Meghan, and children.

Both ceremonies emphasized the sacrifice of these troopers and the impact of their loss on their families.

The ISP Memorial Park honors 74 fallen officers and serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by those in duty.
