TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Memorial Health Hospitals across central Illinois are hosting flag-raising ceremonies to highlight the importance of organ and tissue donation.
According to Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network, which serves Illinois and northwest Indiana, nearly 5,000 Illinoisans are currently waiting for an organ transplant.
A list of flag-raising ceremony times and locations is listed below:
- Taylorville Memorial Hospital: 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at the flagpole near the hospital's main entrance
- Lincoln Memorial Hospital: 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 at the flagpole near the hospital's main entrance
- Decatur Memorial Hospital: 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8 at the flagpole near the hospital's main entrance
Anyone is invited to attend. Hospital staff will be available in the lobbies to register new donors.
