URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — Carle Health patients across central Illinois will have better access to elevated inpatient rehabilitation services starting in January thanks to a new partnership.

The Carle Health system and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation are partnering to improve patient outcomes and the inpatient rehab experience in central Illinois.

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is a not-for-profit, internationally accredited and nationally recognized leader in rehabilitation.

Carle Health said the first-of-its-kind collaboration will bring more patients healing through innovative technologies, modern treatment options and community care with team members patients can trust. People will continue to get individualized care from Carle Health providers with the specialty experience in rehab services of Mary Free Bed.

The partnership will include three locations — Carle Foundation Hospital, Carle BroMenn Medical Center and Carle Health Proctor Hospital.

"As part of our commitment to serving the Champaign-Urbana region with high-quality healthcare, this is the first step toward our vision to expand inpatient rehab services to meet the growing need," said Carle Health President and CEO James C. Leonard, MD. "Partnering with Mary Free Bed allows the patients we serve to continue to see the providers they know and trust while bringing advanced knowledge and proven care models to support a better experience for everyone."
