DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Several areas of Decatur are under a boil order until further notice.

The impacted areas are as follows, according to the City of Decatur:

  • W Center from Florian to Wyckles
  • Wyckles Road from W Center to W Main
  • W Main from Wyckles to Dipper
  • Everyone in the Wilcox neighborhood off N Elizabeth
  • Any neighborhood on or off Elizabeth, North of W Center
  • North Sunnyside
  • Price neighborhood off Sunnyside
  • Heather Hills Neighborhood

The City of Decatur told WAND News that the boil order was issued due to a water main break. There is no estimation yet for when the order will be lifted, according to city officials.

Residents under the boil order should not drink or brush teeth with water from the faucet. Dishwashers should not be used, and dishes should be washed and rinsed with bottled water.

Tap water should be boiled for 3-5 minutes to be used for food, coffee and tea.

The city said it is safe to bathe or shower and to wash clothes. The water is also safe for pets to drink, according to the city.
