DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Danville Fire Department will hold several training sessions in mid-December.

The public will be able to view the sessions from designated viewing areas.

"This training will enhance the skills and readiness of firefighters serving Danville and surrounding communities," said DFD Training Captain Ryan.

The department will have roof operations trainings on December 16 and 17 in the 500 blocks of Chandler and Grant Streets. The training includes the use of chainsaws and work on rooftops of houses.

Another training will be held on December 18 at 1008 N. Jackson Street. It will be a live-fire training designed to help prepare firefighters to safely protect residents and property.

The Decatur Fire Department said nearby residents may notice temporary brown discoloration of water caused by sediment stirred up in water lines during the live-fire events. They said this usually clears within 2-8 hours without the need for continuous flushing.
