SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Springfield Police Department is launching a new online portal designed to give the community greater access to information about the department's operations and public safety efforts.

The new "Transparency Dashboard" includes data on crime statistics, police enforcement activities, and, as data becomes available, internal affairs investigations and use of force incidents.

The department said information related to internal affairs and use of force is being finalized and will be added to the portal as soon as it is available.

The city of Springfield and the police department's responses to the Massey Commission's calls to action that directly pertain to the city are also available on the dashboard.

According to the department, it will provide updates regarding the officer-involved shooting that happened on January 10, and the July 4 incident involving an off-duty sergeant.

The Transparency Dashboard can be accessed here.
