URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A 17-year-old Urbana High School student was arrested Wednesday after a reported threat to commit violence at the school.

The Urbana Police Department said the threat, which involved a statement about shooting up the school, was made after a confrontation with other students.

School staff overheard the comments and reported them to the police.

Officers searched the student's home, but did not find any weapons. According to police, the threat was not made on school grounds and there is no evidence any guns were present at the school.

The 17-year-old student has been arrested.
