DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur man accused of being involved in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Friday night was denied pretrial release Tuesday.
Court records show that 18-year-old Nehemiah Meyers was denied pretrial release.
Decatur police say 17-year-old Tevon Beasley was standing in the doorway of a business on West Wood Street and Jasper Street on Friday, when surveillance video shows a car pulling up, with three men inside, driven by Myers.
According to a sworn statement, a man in the back seat of the vehicle is accused of shooting Beasley before Myers drove away.
Myers said in the sworn that he was unaware of the apparent shooter or anyone else in the vehicle being armed, or that the shooting would happen before it took place.
There is no word as to whether the accused shooter has been arrested or charged.
A preliminary hearing for Myers has been set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12.
