TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Taylorville Lake's beach is back open after closing due to high levels of E. coli in its water.
The beach was reopened Wednesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health website.
The beach was closed for about a week after tests on Wednesday, June 3 showed more than 18 times the allowable limit of bacteria in the water.
It is unclear when the IDPH informed city officials, but the city did not post a notice online until after 4 p.m. Thursday, June 4.
