SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced a $5.5 million improvement project on North Dirksen Parkway in Springfield.Â
IDOT said this phase will include the reopening of Dirksen Parkway to southbound traffic while closing it to northbound traffic, with a detour utilizing Sangamon Avenue and North Peoria Road.Â
The project entails resurfacing, traffic signal upgrades, and ADA improvements, aimed at enhancing safety and driving conditions.Â
It is expected to be completed by early August. Motorists should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes.
