(WAND) - Almost $6 million in mental health funding for Illinois that was cut by the Trump administration earlier this week was reversed Wednesday night.
The cuts were set to take place effective immediately.Â
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration canceled over 2,000 grants totaling roughly $2 billion in funding nationwide on Tuesday.Â
Grants that were set to be affected included Strategic Prevention Framework – Partnerships for Success for States (SPF-PFSS), Illinois Prevent Prescription Drug/Opioid Overdose-Related Deaths (IPDO), Garret Lee Smith Youth Suicide Prevention and Intervention Grant, Project AWARE and REACH Out.Â
The reason behind the reversal is unclear.Â
