SIGEL, Ill. (WAND) — A Shelby County man was arrested Wednesday on child exploitation charges.

22-year-old Sullivan J. Chern was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a child.

According to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, officers saw a vehicle parked near the Lake Sara Beach early Wednesday morning. 

A deputy made contact with the people in the vehicle, who were Chern and a girl under the age of 18.

Police said an investigation led to Chern's arrest. No more details are available since the investigation is ongoing.

Chern is in the Effingham County Jail. He will have a pre-trial detention hearing on January 15.
