FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) - The Village of Forsyth announced upcoming renovations to the Forsyth Veterans Memorial.

According to the Village, improvements to the memorial will include new military branch monuments for each of the armed forces, enhanced walkways, restored flagpoles, landscaping, seating areas and an expanded gathering space for ceremonies and events.

Community members can also purchase commemorative bricks for $100 each, which can honor veterans, active military members, messages of appreciation and more.

The deadline to order the bricks is July 1.

“This project is about honoring service, preserving history and creating a place where families, veterans and visitors can gather in remembrance and gratitude. We are excited to provide opportunities for individuals, families, organizations and businesses to be part of this lasting tribute,” said Forsyth Village Administrator Jill Applebee.

The Village will additionally host an information table on the project during Forsyth Fest June 19 to 20.

Forsyth anticipates celebrating the completed renovations during the Village's Veteran's Day ceremony on Nov. 11.
