SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — An intersection near HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield is expected to be closed at least a day after a water main break Thursday.
According to City Water, Light and Power, crews responded to repair a broken water transmission main at the intersection of 9th and Madison Streets. That is on the southeast corner of HSHS St. John's Hospital.
CWLP said northbound lanes on 9th street are closed to through traffic between Jefferson and Madison streets.Â
All lanes of eastbound Madison Street are closed at the intersection, with traffic being detoured south onto 9th street. Madison Street is a one-way. The north curb lane on Madison Street will stay open.
According to CWLP, work is expected to last a day, with lanes staying closed until repairs are finished.Â
CWLP recommends drivers to find alternate routes, slow down and be aware of the construction, repair crews, and equipment in and near roads.
