House fire on W. Macon in Decatur on March 5, 2026. 

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - An investigation is underway after an abandoned house caught fire in Decatur Thursday afternoon. 

The Decatur Fire Department was called to the house in the 700 block of W. Macon St. at 3:45 p.m.

Heavy fire was coming from the second-floor windows on three sides of the large, abandoned home. 

Crews discovered a fire in the attic and were able to get it put out. 

No one was inside the house, and no injuries were reported. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
