DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The cost of living has been putting a pinch on many family budgets. With the cost of prescription drugs rising one local pharmacy is helping cover co-pays for people who may not be able to afford them.

“We have seen that increase a lot over the last couple of years,” Lauren Colee Young of Dale’s Southlake Pharmacy told WAND News. “A lot of expenses have gone up so patients are really trying to cover their grocery bill. Things like that.”

Dale’s in Decatur and Colee’s Corner Drugs in Forsyth have a prescription drug assistance program. The program covers the co-pays for individuals who are under insured or not insured at all.

Pharmacy staff who see a copay go up substantially will even talk to customers about their ability to pay.

Young says Dale’s Southlake Pharmacy received a $5,000 donation from a “Secret Santa” in December to cover some of the programs costs.
