DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The 170th year of the Macon County Fair released its events schedule for 2026.
The fair will kick off on June 1 at the Macon County Fairgrounds in Decatur.
The full schedule is as follows:
- Monday, June 1: Downstate Classic Harness Racing
- Tuesday, June 2: I.S.A. Harness Racing
- Wednesday, June 3: Macon Co. Fair Queen Pageant
- Thursday, June 4: Bayker Blankenship concert at the Grandstand
- Friday, June 5: Rodeo
- Saturday, June 6: ITPA Truck and tractor pulls
- Sunday, June 7: Demolition derby
The fair will have events all week, something Board Member Wendy Harned said was needed.
"Fair attendance is now up to over 10,000 people, so we're growing every year, which is how we implemented starting the fair on a Monday this year and being able to run all the way through Sunday," Harned said.
The extra days also give more time for track maintenance.
In preparation for making sure we have the most amazing horse racing track, which is one of the fastest in the area, we wanted to move that up," Harned said. "It also enables us to grow the rest of the week. It's so much track work for us."
The Queen Pageant will also make its return this year.
"For the young girls, it teaches you it's not all about standing on a stage being a queen,"Â Harned said. "It's about giving back to the community and what you can do [for] your future. And what you learn is self-confidence and how to talk to other people and how to present yourself in the community."
Tickets are available now at the fair's website.
