DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A man who was arrested in connection with a stabbing Danville in May has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.

The Danville Police Department were called to the 2100 block of E. Main Street around 6:15 p.m. on May 22 and found a 47-year-old man who had been stabbed. He was airlifted to Urbana initially but was upgraded to stable condition. 

Based on witness information, officers arrested Daniel Kist, 41, about nine blocks away from the stabbing location. Kist was booked on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

In court, Kist entered a plea deal, pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a weapon. Two other counts were dropped. 

Kist was sentenced to four years in prison which will be served at 50 percent. He was also given credit for 209 days served. He will be on probation for one year following his release.
