SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A Springfield man has been arrested in relation to a fatal shooting at the Lincoln Lodge Hotel on March 18.

Dontreal L. Spencer, Jr., 31, was arrested on March 26 by the United States Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force and Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest warrant was issued three days after the deadly shooting that killed 47-year-old Aaron Suttle at 304 N Dirksen Pkwy. The warrant charged Spencer with three counts of first degree murder, one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm, and one count of possession of a weapon by a felon.

Spencer is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 2019 conviction for robbery, and a 2021 conviction for mob action.

Spencer was taken to the Sangamon County Jail and is awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
