LOGAN COUNTY - A Springfield man is dead after a head-on collision on I-55 near milepost 116.
According to Illinois State Police, Claude B. Finn, 39, of Springfield was driving south on I-55 near milepost 116 when, for some unknown reason, the vehicle crossed the grass median and struck a truck tractor semi-trailer head-on in the far right northbound lane.
The crash took place just before 8:00 PM Friday.
Finn was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck tractor semi trailer refused treatment. Northbound traffic along I-55 was re-routed for several hours while police investigated the crash.
