Men wanted for July 2nd murder arrested in Decatur

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Police Department arrested the three men wanted for the July 2nd murder of 36-year-old Demesheo Lovelace.

Police tell WAND News Joseph Fox, 26, Darelle Fox, 31, and Shawn Eubanks, 25 were arrested Sunday around 4:00 p.m. on the 400 block of North Calhoun in Decatur.

On Sunday, July 2nd, Decatur Police were called out at around 4:30 p.m. for shots fired in the area of 1000 South Water Street. That is south of Downtown Decatur. Police shut down multiple blocks on Water and Main Streets for their investigation. Dozens of officers held crowds back from a large taped off area. The area stretched from Highway 51 from Decatur Street to Cleveland and up to South Water.

Police say Lovelace ran ran into the wooded area behind Greenwood Cemetery trying to escape the gunmen, but was shot and killed. 

Autopsy information from the coroner says Lovelace died from several gunshot wounds to the head and torso areas. Decatur police are still investigating the shooting and say more arrests are possible. 

The three suspects are being held in Macon County Jail.
