DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A motorcyclist who was killed after striking two different utility poles in Decatur has been identified by the coroner. 

Macon County Coroner Michael Day said 22-year-old Nathan G. Doub of Decatur was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Monday. 

Police were called to the intersection of N. Main St. and McKinley Ave. at 6:45 a.m. Monday.

Decatur Police said the motorcyclist was traveling south on Main St. approaching McKinley. Doub left the east side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Police said he then continued to travel southbound and struck a second utility pole.

Police said Doub was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license.

DPD said it is unknown at this time if Doub was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and are investigating the crash.
