MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) — After seven months of grieving and hard work, the Mt. Zion JFL is dedicating the field where Jack Brinkoetter scored his first touchdown.

Hundreds of community members took to the field behind the Mt. Zion Junior and Senior High School to unveil a sign above the scoreboard that read "The Jack Brinkoetter Memorial Field."

Brinkoetter was a dedicated member of the JFL Tackle Team, and the Executive Board has been working for months to commemorate him in a memorable and honorable way.

JFL President Matt Jones said it was fitting to have the field Brinkoetter played on dedicated to him.

"Jack's mentality going into football was always a positive one. If we dedicated the field to him and in his memory, every kid in the future that steps onto that field is going to see that. And it's something that we're going to instill in all of these kids every year," Jones said.

The field will serve as a reminder to all to Live. Like. Jack.
