Fayette County KSP shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky State Police trooper was shot and a suspect was killed after an incident in Fayette County Sunday.

According to KSP, a suspect shot a trooper and then fled the scene near Blue Grass Airport around 11:36 a.m., reported by LEX18.

The suspect traveled to Richmond Road Baptist Church, where the incident ended. There are multiple victims at the church and the suspect is dead, according to KSP. The extent of the victims' injuries hasn't been released.

"KSP & LPD (Lexington Police Department) were able to secure the suspect," Kentucky State Police posted on X. "KSP will provide more information as it becomes available." 

KSP said the trooper who was shot is receiving medical attention. 

Richmond Road Baptist Church is a small church in southeast Lexington in a rural area on Old Richmond Road.
