DECATUR. Ill. (WAND) - A beloved lakeside gem has turned the page to an exciting new chapter.
The Beach House on Lake Decatur, known for its waterfront views and cherished role in the community, has officially come under new ownership.
The new owners, Todd Parker and Craig "Woody" Wilson, are eager to breathe fresh life into the establishment while honoring its rich history. Wilson will take on the role of general manager, while Parker focuses on behind-the-scenes operations.
Parker recalled picking up 5 cent bread with his mom and going to the lake to feed the ducks as a child.
"I always thought this was just a very special place for a restaurant," he said.
Fast-forward, Parker never knew the day would come when he would become a part owner of the establishment.
The Beach House has long been a staple for waterfront dining, special celebrations, and sunset views. Under the new ownership, guests can expect an entirely new menu crafted by local favorite Chef Josh Irby, featuring expanded options and dishes.
The new team plans to enhance the space in phases. The dining room and kitchen are being completely renovated. The team plans to revamp the deck.
"This building has a rich history and we wanted to brand ourselves around the rich history," said Todd.
In recent years the City of Decatur and Decatur Park District have made major investments to Lake Decatur. Wilson and Park hope to continue in the effort to bring people to the lake. An idea Parker shared with WAND News was they plan to host special evening events, like after-parties for shows at The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater, to bring even more vibrancy to the lakefront.
The grand reopening is scheduled for March 11, with both lunch and dinner service. A new website will launch soon for online reservations, and updates will be announced via social media. The owners are eager for feedback and encourage diners to share their thoughts with them.
