URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A new grocery store may be coming to Urbana. The city council has agreed to provide $800,000 in matching funds to make it happen.
Heartstrong Meals LLC is hoping to build a grocery store on the site of Urbana's old Fire Station 3.
The Council discussed covering the cost of demolishing the firehouse to make room for the new grocery store during Monday night's meeting.
Ward 1 Alderwoman, Maryalice Wu stated, "Typically we get kind of a group of people who don't like us to spend money- but I have yet to see something negative about this project. I feel like the people of Urbana are in full support and I really appreciate all the hard work that people have done to try to bring a grocery store."
