Peoria High School Boys Basketball Coach Daniel Ruffin

PEORIA, Ill. (25News Now) - Peoria High School Boys Basketball Coach Daniel Ruffin has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a teenage girl, WEEK is reporting. 

Peoria Police sent out a release late Monday night saying they arrested Ruffin after officers were called to the high school earlier in the day, at about 9:25 a.m.

A 16-year-old girl’s phone allegedly showed inappropriate texts.

Police said they interviewed Ruffin and took him into custody for indecent solicitation of a minor. He’s being held in the Peoria County Jail.

Ruffin is 41 and lives in Dunlap, according to jail records. He is a graduate of Peoria High School and is a former Bradley basketball star.

He was part of the Sweet 16 Bradley team in the NCAA Tournament in the 2005-2006 season. Ruffin is also a member of Bradley’s Hall of Fame.

Peoria Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat said she is unable to comment on personnel issues.
