Generic ambulance

RANTOUL, Ill. (WAND) - A person who died following a medical emergency at a Rantoul aquatic center Monday afternoon has been identified. 

The Rantoul Fire Department said on Facebook that firefighters along with Rantoul police and Arrow Ambulance were called around 4 p.m. to the Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center. 

First responders arrived within minutes and found lifeguards performing CPR. 

Rantoul FD stated that during an investigation that the person was in the water for seconds before a lifeguard stepped in to help. 

The Champaign County Coroner's Office identified the person who died as 59-year-old Shawn Barrigher of Rantoul. 

An autopsy has been scheduled.
