DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A lockdown at the Decatur Downtown Transportation Center has been lifted after a large police response on East William Street Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a building that houses Captain's Place and the Decatur City Tax businesses between North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and North Franklin Street.

DPD command would not provide any information about why there was a police response. Several DPD command staff members reached by WAND News were out of town or not able to provide information. They said a "press release would come later." Police were not expected to address the media on Wednesday.

DPD said there is no threat to the public.

Shortly before 10 a.m., WAND News crews on scene saw an ambulance leaving with a police escort. Crime scene tape surrounded the building It's not clear if either business was open at the time of the incident. 

The scene included first responders from the Decatur Police Department, Decatur Fire Department, and Macon County Sheriff's Office.

WAND News saw police exiting the building with long guns. 

Despite the lockdown at the transit city, Decatur City Spokesman Ryan Huffer said transit operations were not impacted. Huffer did not have any additional information about the situation.
