DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A possible tornado touched down in Long Creek in Macon County Sunday, damaging homes and knocking out power.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln observed a tornado through weather data, and other trained spotters noted a possible tornado.
Several homes along Jeanette Drive, Skyline Drive, and Baltimore Ave. sustained damage. At least two homes had their roofs torn off.
First responders in the area told WAND News it did not appear anyone was hurt. Several people and pets inside a home on Skyline Ave. were able to safely get out of a home when the roof was ripped off.
Macon County EMA and first responders are asking people to avoid the area to allow crews to safely work and reach people who might need assistance.

The storm, which hit around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, continued moving east into Piatt County. The possible tornado was with a line of storms that quickly moved across Illinois. The storm system prompted several tornado warnings in central Illinois.Â
The storms, along a strong cold front, caused temperatures to plummet more than 20 degrees. High temperatures on Sunday reached the 60s but are expected to fall into the 20s and 30s Sunday evening and overnight into Monday.
A line of severe storms started moving through central Illinois around 2 p.m. Wind gusts in some areas reached 55 miles per hour, according to NWS.
As of 6 p.m., Ameren reported nearly 2,400 people without power in Macon County, mainly along the area where the possible tornado was reported. More than 100 people were without power in Menard County.Â
The NWS will survey damage later to confirm any tornadoes, including wind speeds, size, and other information.Â
