LIVINGSTON, Ill. (WAND) - This month's Girls Trip segment brought Caroline Reese and Alivia Colon to one of Route 66's most iconic roadside stops—the Pink Elephant Antique Mall in Livingston.
Housed inside a former high school built in 1929, the 30,000-square-foot destination is packed with antiques, collectibles and vintage treasures that spark memories for visitors of all ages.
Tonia Pickerill, owner of The Pink Elephant says, "Sometimes they see toys and stuff that they had... they're like, 'Oh my gosh, my great grandma had this item,' or my grandma or my mom. It brings back those memories from back in the day."
The nostalgia doesn't stop with shopping. Caroline and Alivia sampled homemade banana bread fudge at the Mother Road Fudge Factory and Candy Shop, where fresh fudge is made every week, before heading to the retro Twistee Treats Diner for a classic banana split.
The Pink Elephant has become a favorite stop for travelers from around the globe. "We love to see people from all around the world—Australia, Germany, the Netherlands," Pickerill shared, highlighting the attraction's international appeal.
Whether you're searching for a unique antique, a sweet treat or simply a memorable stop along the Mother Road, the Pink Elephant proves that Route 66 history isn't standing still—it's creating new memories with every visitor.
