CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — The Salvation Army Champaign County is continuing their work helping families during Christmas time.

Captain Melissa Sivels said the need continues to increase each year.

"We anticipate that it's going to be, if not, that same amount, probably even more. We've been seeing an increase in literally all of our services that we provide so we're anticipating there's going to be a rise there this year as well," said Sivels.

Through the Salvation Army Toy Shop, parents are given variety in choosing gifts for their families.

"Part of the process that we do is that the parents are still able to pick out the gifts themselves so they're still able to have. There's no shame in this process. We know that some years are harder than others, we've had people come in and had to get help one year and they're donating the next," said Sivels.
