DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A new eatery in downtown Decatur is gaining attention for its creative name and handcrafted menu.
Spread N Buns Craft Soups & Sandwiches officially opened its doors near Central Park. Owner Marcos Fuentes has invited locals to stop for a soft opening.
The business announced its soft opening earlier this week. Since then, the team has been serving a limited, but thoughtfully curated menu featuring house-made sandwiches and seasonal soups.
"I want you to feel welcome," Fuentes said.
Fuentes said people can expect traditional soups and sandwiches with a little twist. He plans to incorporate smoothies and eventually start serving breakfast. He told WAND News he has started to collaborate with River Coffee Company and Big Hungry's Donuts.
This new shop means a lot to Fuentes. He said he grew up in Decatur and has watched his dad own several businesses in town.
"The community has responded well to his businesses," Fuentes said. "The reason I keep choosing Decatur is because when businesses are really in need and hurting, they [Decatur] get together and support."
