A hot spot for summer fun in the Capitol City is open again, after a tragedy forced its closure two years ago.
The swimming beach on Lake Springfield remained closed to the public last summer for repairs. It was first shut down in July of 2007 after the drowning death of a 16-year-old boy. The swimming area is owned and managed by Springfield's City Water Light and Power. The beach will be open from 11:00 to 5:00 daily through August 2nd.
