WATSON TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WAND) - An 18-year-old was injured after deputies said he fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed in Watson Township.Â
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on U.S. Highway 45, 1/2 a mile south of 650th Ave. around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday.Â
Deputies said the driver from Louisville was going south on U.S. Highway 45 when he fell asleep and veered off the road. He hit an Ameren utility pole.Â
The driver was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Hospital.Â
