Fire, fire fighter, fire truck
WELDON, Ill. (WAND)-Two residents have been displaced after a structure fire in Weldon on Sunday.
 
According to Weldon Fire and Rescue, crews were dispatched for a first alarm structure fire with a report of residents still inside and unable to get out.
 
Crews said upon arrival there was heavy black smoke coming from the roof of the structure.
 
The fire was upgraded to a second alarm response bringing additional resources and manpower.
 
Weldon fire assisted the residents and pets out of the building and began the initial fire attack.
 
With help from the Clinton Fire Department, DeLand Fire Protection District, Farmer City Fire Department, and Cisco Fire Protection District, crews were able to keep equipment working with the -6 degree temperatures and extinguish the fire.
 
As a result of the fire two residents have been displaced and are currently being assisted by the Red Cross.
 
There were no firefighter injuries to report and all crews returned safely back to their stations.
 
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
