UPDATE: Police have confirmed Wednesday afternoon's shootings inside a Springfield apartment were the result of a murder-suicide. Police say Keon Rice shot his estranged girlfriend, Jamie Weickart, five times before turning the gun on himself.
UPDATE: Sangamon County Coroner Susan Boone has released the names of the two people found dead in a Springfield apartment Wednesday afternoon. Keon Rice, 28, and 30 year-old Jamie Weickart died from apparent gunshot wounds inside an apartment building in the 2100 block of East Watch Avenue. Police still have not said what led up to the shootings.
SPRINGFIELD, IL- Two people were found dead in a Springfield apartment Wednesday and police are still looking for answers.
Police received a 911 call around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon after a relative of one of the victims found two dead bodies at an apartment building in the 2100 block of East Watch Avenue.
Police say a man and a woman died from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police are not sure of the circumstances that led to the deaths, but they are saying that there is no danger to anyone in the community.
