A six-year-old Villa Grove boy will be able to take his service dog to school with him a little longer.

The Villa Grove School District originally barred the dog from going to school with first-grader Kaleb Drew, but the family took it to court. Wednesday, a court extended an order to allow the autistic child to bring his service dog to class. The family says they're disappointed the situation has gone this far, but they're hopeful a final decision will be made in Kaleb's favor.

"Now, we're just going to believe that the school is going to see the differences that we're seeing and that in November when this final trial comes up, that everything's going to work out for the best," said Nichelle Drew, Kaleb's mother.

The Drew family returns to court on November 10th when a final ruling will be made.
