Police Crime Scene Tape (C)

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A woman who was found shot to death inside a Decatur home has been identified.

Tuesday night just before 6, Decatur Police responded to a home in the 300 block of W. Burtschi Court.

They found 34-year-old Amanda C. Carter inside, dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives with the Decatur Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division conducted interviews with witnesses to the shooting and processed the crime scene at the home.

Decatur Police said detectives established probable cause to arrest 22-year-old Decatur resident Ezekiel D. Gray for Involuntary Manslaughter.

Gray was booked into the Macon County Jail.

After conducting the interviews and after consultation with the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office, Detectives established probable cause to arrest 30-year-old Decatur resident Quentrell D. Banks for Concealment of a Homicidal Death, a Class 3 Felony in Illinois.

Banks was booked into the Macon County Jail. However, in accordance with the newly enacted Pretrial Fairness Act, Quentrell was cited and released on this charge specifically.

The investigation is ongoing.

An autopsy for Carter is scheduled for Thursday.
