CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois guard Aaliyah Guyton and center Lety Vasconcelos have been named to the preliminary training camp roster for the Brazilian Senior Women's National Team, the Brazilian Basketball Confederation announced July 14. Guyton and Vasconcelos are the third and fourth current Illini invited to represent a national team (Cearah Parchment, Canada & Irene Noya Catoira, Spain U20).
The 20-player list, assembled by national team coach Pokey Chatman, will be trimmed to 12 for Brazil's South American Qualifying tournament for the AmericupW, set for Aug. 3-9 in Zárate, Argentina.
Brazil will compete in Group B alongside Venezuela and Chile. Seven countries — Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela — will compete for four berths in the 2027 AmericupW in El Salvador. The group winner advances directly to the semifinals, while the second- and third-place teams will play for the remaining semifinal spot and a qualifying berth.
Guyton and Vasconcelos are two of six current collegiate players heading to the training camp. The 2026 event marks the second time the duo will be working with the same Brazil team at the same time.
