(WAND) - University of Illinois Baseball Coach Dan Hartleb will manage the 2026 Collegiate National Team, USA Baseball announced Wednesday.

Hartleb has been involved with the national team for over a decade, but this will mark his managerial debut.

USA Baseball said Hartleb served as an assistant coach at last year's Collegiate National Team Training Camp and was an assistant for the 2021 Collegiate National Team.

"Representing our country in any capacity is a profound honor and privilege. I am energized by the challenge ahead as we work to select a team that will compete with great pride, passion and purpose in representing our nation and our national pastime in international competition," Hartleb said in a statement via USA Baseball.

According to Illinois Athletics, Hartleb is the winningest coach in program history, and the Illini have captured three Big Ten titles under his guidance.
