CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - After awaiting approval by the NCAA to officially join the roster for the Illinois men's basketball team, Serbian Mihailo Petrovic has been cleared for the upcoming season.
He joins the Illini roster officially listed as a sophomore and will have three years of eligibility in his college career. He is still nursing an injury before the season tips off.
Prior to joining the program, Petrovic played in club competition while living in his home country. Most recently, he spent a season with KK Mega Basket in the Adriatic Basketball Association, where he averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game. During the 2024-25 season, he shot 49% from the field and 33% from 3-point-range.
He developed with his hometown club KK Probasket Prokuplje before joining KK Partizan in 2019.
Petrovic also represented Serbia in a combined 20 career games at the European Championships in 2019, 2021, and 2023. He appeared at the senior level in earlier this year, making his debut at the FIBA Eurobasket Qualifiers.
