CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — As part of the Honored Jerseys program, former Illinois basketball star Terrence Shannon Jr.'s jersey was raised to the rafters during halftime against Michigan State.

Only there was a slight hiccup. Shannon’s No. 0 jersey was suspended upside down as it was raised to the rafters of the State Farm Center.

But the former Illini star is turning what could have been an embarrassing moment for the school into a positive.

Shannon created t-shirts and hoodies that say "When life has you upside down, turn it around!"

All proceeds from the shirt and hoodie sales will benefit the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club, a place Shannon volunteered at while playing at the U of I.

"Terrence's connection to the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club runs deep," said Amy Brown, CEO of Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club. "He dedicated his time mentoring our youth. I'm not surprised Terrence still has our youth in his heart because they sure are following him and what he's doing."

Following the Illini basketball game against Wisconsin, Shannon's former head coach Brad Underwood said, "Man, I couldn't be any more proud of the way that young man handled that situation. His moment, his moment. All the work that went into that, his moment. And then to turn it around and give it all to charity."

Shannon Jr. was selected 27th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in last year's NBA Draft.

The shirts are $35 and the hoodies are $50.
