CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- Senior defensive back Xaveir Scott will return for the 2026 season.Â
Scott made the announcement on his X account Thursday night saying run it back.Â
In 2024 Scott was a Paycom Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist as one of the top 25 defensive backs in college football.Â
And his 2025 season was cut short due to an injury he sustained in week 3 against Western Michigan. Scott missed the final 10 games of the year after he had surgery back in September.Â
Scott has played in 39 games with 28 starts at Illinois, totaling 127 tackles, 26 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and six interceptions.Â
