LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) - Last season, Lincoln Girls Basketball went undefeated through the regular season and playoffs before losing in the State Championship Game.

"We kind of saw what it felt like to get a taste of a championship and then watch it just fade away," Kloe Froebe, a senior guard, said. "I think that motivated us this year to work extra hard to try and accomplish that end goal."

Just four games from returning to the playoffs, the Railsplitters are once again undefeated, sitting atop the Central State Eight conference standings at 27-0.

"We take it game by game and we prepare for each team and we continue to work hard in practice to be better at the things we do," said Taylor Rohrer, Lincoln's Head Coach. "[We want to] be great defenders and great rebounders."

Through 27 games, the Railsplitters closest game came against Peoria Notre Dame: an 11 point win.

They're also beating opponents by an average margin of 42 points.

"We want every team to give us their best game because that's the way that we improve and I think that teams have definitely done that," Rohrer said. "Our girls have really stepped up and stayed focused and they've just been playing really great basketball."

With eyes set on returning to the state championship, the focus remains on improving every day.

"There's always places to improve, so we just have to stay motivated, stay focused, and come out and play our game," Froebe said.

The regular season wraps up February 6th.
