USA women's hockey wins gold medal

The storybook ending is complete for Team USA and captain Hilary Knight.

The U.S. women's hockey team defeated Canada 2-1 to win gold at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.

Canada outplayed the United States for much of the game and held on to a 1-0 lead, until Knight scored with just over two minutes left in the third to send the game to sudden-death overtime.

With the goal, Knight set the record for most Olympic goals and points for in U.S. women's hockey history.

Megan Keller scored in overtime to seal the win for Team USA.

Kristin O'Neill scored the only goal, shorthanded, in the second period for Canada.
